Sabugo House is a local accommodation establishment in Madeira, located in a rural area in the municipality of Ponta do Sol. It is built on an area that belonged to our grandparents and which, in the past, was fertile ground for growing sugar cane.
YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Ponta do Sol, where summer seems to have no end
Its cultivation was synonymous with hard work. It often involved being available at inconvenient times to water the plantation (even in the early hours of the morning); caring for the plantation, plowing the land and weeding regularly; preparing for a good harvest by removing the corncob from the sugar cane a few weeks before it was harvested, in order to make the sugar cane fuller and juicier; and finally harvesting in often unfavorable weather conditions.

Sabugo House thus evokes the memory of the effort and sacrifice of our ancestors in growing this plant year after year, which is still the raw material for many ingredients in delicacies that can be tasted on the island of Madeira.
